Yes back when that WAS the only book on Tull. I think I am the only person that liked it. Including reading it front to back at least 4 times until my copy was falling apart. May still be in a box downstairs but I doubt it. I recall reading it before one of the 4 A shows in 1980. "The story has been forever in the telling." And the sampling of various famed quotes worked too. "Flame I am assuredly" seemed an apt assessment of Anderson on stage in those years. That was from Rilke. The book was written somewhat in the fashion of Passion Play. Re it is not a particularly easy read and it is not really any autobiographical history though it does go through each album to that point.The guy writing it was a young lawyer in Kansas City back then. I have been expecting him to resurface in these internet years. Of course he could be dead I suppose. Btw I came upon its existence via a tiny ad in the back of Rolling Stone in 1979. In that time when you can be sure that was the ONLY mention of Tull within those pages as we got to the years where one was supposed to be embarrassed to "admit" to liking Tull. I know. I lived it. In those years where Gary Numan, Elvis Costelo and the Talking Heads had seized the positions of power. I did like many many years later when the coast was clear that the likes of Johnny Rotten and the Ramones "admitted" to being big Tull fans. Ever so flattering. Ian Anderson has more talent than the entire "movement" of punk rock and new wave. I do mean ALL of it.

A criminally underrated album. One of the best 80s synth albums. You won't hear them used to a better effect than here.

I do not see Paris mentioned, they had two albums, one which is fantastic...the guitar is from the early days of Fleetwood Mac, bumbed never saw them-Jethro- in Phoenix back in the day of 5 dollar tickets...parents would not allow me to see hippies...ha ha

I have grown to really like the Walk Into Light album. I find it actually comforting now when I listen to it. In spite of the "cold synth textures" I once felt alienated by, they now seem "warm" and introspective, if that makes sense.

Saw JT play live the other day. They played We Used to Know and dedicated it the.... The Eagles.

Indeed, my musical interest in Tull faded when Glenn was sacked. Amazing bass work!!!

I am so delighted to have stumbled on this. It captures Glenn's contributions, and is so beautifully edited, giving the listener the essence of so many of their songs, without abrupt transitions, and making such good use of obscure video (film) footage. And yet, Jethro Tull is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (shame).

Zu allen Zeiten haben Musiker von anderen Musikern und Komponisten Anregungen übernommen, bewusst oder unbewusst. Das war in der Klassik so, das ist heute so. Nach der Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung kommen Komponisten früher oder später auf gleiche Akkordfolgen und Melodien. Don Felder hat das Stück von JT irgend wann mal gehört, es gefiel ihm, er vergaß es im Laufe der Zeit wieder und nach Jahren war die Melodie wieder im Kopf, wurde leicht verändert niedergeschrieben und als eigenes Produkt empfunden - was ist dagegen zu sagen? Etwas anders gespielt mit guter Story: Der Welt -Hit war geboren.
